New Data

Acyclovir Treatment of HSV-2 in HSV-2/HIV-Coinfected Individuals Does Not Reduce HIV Transmission to HIV-Uninfected Partners


Although HIV transmission rates were not reduced by acyclovir treatment, HIV RNA levels in plasma and genital secretions and episodes of HSV-2–positive genital ulcer disease were reduced relative to patients treated with placebo.
